Belle & Sebastian apparently have LP8, God Help The Girl ready for mastering. I personally was a huge fan of The Life Pursuit, so the following news via Stuart Murdoch’s blog is certainly a welcomed surprise:
“I’m aiming to master all the ‘God Help The Girl’ songs by the end of November. I think there are 18 of them. It’s a good feeling to think about making records. Sleeves and schedules, running orders and what not. It’s been so long since I did it that, I suspect the landscape has changed.”
Guest vocal contributions from Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy) and Asy of Smoosh’s are also revealed.
For those that can’t wait for new material and instead are looking for a nostalgic look at the the Belle & Sebastian of yesterday, the band will release their BBC Sessions on November 17th via Matador.

“God Help The Girl” is Stuart Murdoch’s musical film – I assume he’s referring to the score/soundtrack to said film, I don’t think it’s an official Belle & Sebastian album. I was told by Matador a few weeks ago that the band is officially on hiatus. That said, I’m sure that however “God Help The Girl” ends up being packaged, it’ll be gobbled up by B&S fans.
