Giveaway: New Year’s Eve with Justice

Did anyone dress up as Justice for Halloween? Despite some technical problems at the Monolith Festival a couple months ago, Justice put on one hell of an audio and visual display. It was quite a trip watching people lose control over two French DJ’s at Red Rocks. It was an unexpected high point of the festival for me.

Now is the time to start planning for New Year’s Eve, and we wanted to help out by offering two (2) tickets to the Revolution Number 9 party going down at Chicago’s Congress Theater, featuring a DJ Set by Justice, So Me, and more.

The party begins around 7pm, going well into early morning 2009. Should be a night to remember. To enter our contest, drop a comment letting us know what you did last New Year’s Eve. It’s ok to make something up if it was lame. One winner will be notified by e-mail.

Justice fans can pick up the CD/DVD A Cross The Universe, a live collection from San Francisco on November 24th.

I drank my weight in old milwaukee and talked to a cop named bruce while slapping a lesbian in the ass with a fish.

I sat at home reading MoB’s Best Albums & Concerts of 2007, listening to Justice, and desperately wishing that somebody had subsidized an all-night party for my broke ass.

I wrote the script to finally complete the epic trilogies of Short Circuit and Gremlins… in the same movie.

Got drunk at a cabin where the majority of the 16 of us passed out by midnight only to wake up and party for Hawaiian New Year at 5 AM.

New Years Eve saw me stuck in a log cabin 3 hours from home with a bunch of strangers I had gone to high school with. I went because my best friend was going and I had visions of drinking Jubelale together and setting off fireworks on the icy lake – or something. Instead I held his hair while he puked Natty Ice and spaghetti out his nose and passed out in a twin bed at eight o’clock. The clock struck twelve as I said no to another round of beer pong and went to sleep on the floor.

I was whipped into going to a city that was an hour away from where I lived becuse I was in love with this girl(Michele) since i was high school, who was now living in that city. The only reason why I went was becuse she knew if she asked me to go and if she acted like she was going a bad night, I would of been her lap dog and came… which I did.

Once I got there and got everything out of the way(getting drunk before hand ), we went to a bar that the girls knew of. Not only that, but I had to drive drunk which they made me do. I found out later that night the reason why we went to this bar was becuse the bar tender who was working that night was Michele’s crush and she just sat and talked to him the whole time. I just sat at a booth with my friend Megan and just talked about music(but I kept looking back at the bar).

It came to midnight and it came for the New Years kiss. I was walking towards Michele to give her that kiss and I finally saw her in the crowd.I wasnt that far away when I saw her and was ready to give her that kiss and that jackass- of- a- bartender came from my right and gave her MY kiss.

I just wanted to go home at this point.

I was pretty much pissed that night. I think she also had sex with the bar tender that night which made me quit talking to her for (9) months… Until our friend Megan(her best friend in life and the one from this story) passed away. We started talking again but nothing was the same.

I hosted a cabin party, where two of the guests names were (coincidentally) Roland and Cambray. We all had a lovely time drinking Jubalale and setting fireworks off by the lake. We all got a great nights sleep are woke up early enough to celebrate the Hawaiian New Year. It was magical.

ftw…..New years eve is my birthday.

  14. RV 13. Nov, 2008 at 8:35 pm #

Joined my family for a cruse leaving Miami on New Years Eve. Waded between masses of Honeymooners and retirees wishing I was at a cabin on an icy lake in Wisconsin drinking shitty beer and setting off fireworks.

I went up to my cousin’s cabin on Lake Windigo just outside of Hayward, Wisconsin and watched a marathon of the Twilight Zone on the Sci-Fi Channel and drank sparkling apple juice.

Danced to the Beatles on the jukebox at Estelle’s with about 10 good friends and 10 random strangers, while Local H rocked it out next door at Subterranean–wishing I was next door.

i went shopping, went to derek erdmans new years eve party, took a drunken cab to hyde park with a driver who was an old chinese man lookin for “dope,” drank orange juice and vodka, and witnessed my friends’ ex-boyfriend smash her ex-lover’s head into the brick wall of the apartment building adjacent to my house. after we cleaned his head with vodka, we searched the house for vegemite, listened to the velvet underground, and made sandwiches and cereal later in the morning.

i went to see black kids at empty bottle with two very good friends… the set was short but an eighties dance party ensued well into the am. if one isn’t at the congress on 12/31, the empty bottle always does it right!

  20. Melissa 14. Nov, 2008 at 2:05 pm #

I spent it drinking bud light and dancing around to cover songs sang by Super Tuesday at the Dry Bean. Wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else since the friends I was with were deliciously fun.

Last new year’s for me went exceptionally well.

I djed (one of my first few times) at my friends’ band’s after-party and overall, everything ran smoothly. My friend’s band is pretty popular in the area so there were about 200-400 people there in and out.

…and being paid with pints of jameson was also a surprisingly good deal.

  22. Patrick 16. Nov, 2008 at 6:05 pm #

Reading everyone’s stories affirms my belief that New Year’s Eve kinda sucks because everyone is trying desperately to do something fun when it is just like any other night…

I watched the girl I had been in love with since 6th grade get shit faced and sloppily suck face at the stroke of midnight with some random guy who showed up to the party. She then crawled upstairs to puke and in a moment of shear retaliation and jealousy as i was leaving i grabed this girls cousin (who just happened to be staying with her that week) that I had been conversing with as we watched her relative drink herself to oblivion, and made out with her then left.

Went to some show at the Metro in Chicago, ended up staying at a stranger’s house after it who ended up being a lifelong friend. But man do I want to see Justice on New Year’s.

weeelll. we rented a house in vermont which happened to be a ski in ski out type house. This was between about 15 people. The house had a sauna(which i was in all day and night) and a jacuzee. After the sauna we would jump in the snow on the terrace and run back inside. The owner was rather strange though. he had his face painted onto a scale so when you woudl go weigh yourself his face would be looking up at you with a creepy smirk. The house was beautiful and consisted of his own 80s playboy collection which we decorated the house in. It also contained a pool table. We had quite a nice time. I went cheap and went snowshoeing . it was really beautiful though. that was my new years. ed bangers record was playing all days in the background

I convinced my friends that it was a good idea to try out Barefoot wine, because it had a gold sticker on it. It turned out horrible so we played flip cup with it to get rid of it quickly. Following this, we decided to play flip cup with Goldschläger. Both of these poor choices, plus drinking a lot of other things because I was bored at the party, amounted to me passing out for the first time in my life. Excelsior!
