Photos: The Avett Brothers – Chicago Bluegrass & Blues

Last night The Avett Brothers headlined the Chicago Blues & Bluegrass Festival at the Congress Theater. Plenty of great discoveries and old-favorites.     Wow, I’d never heard of the Avett Brothers. But, the samples sound pretty great (though not too bluegrass-y, considering that they were headlining the festival). Anyway, thanks for the heads-up on what sounds like a band worth listening to!

    The Avett’s are the best thing going right now in Americana muisc. Fantastic original songwriting with an amp-ed up punk ethos applied to roots music. Definitely check out their most recent album “Emotionalism.”
