You may remember Laura Gibson from her opening stint with Great Lake Swimmers last summer at the High Noon. You might have also seen her out on the road with Colin Meloy. She keeps good company on the road for good reason, and her upcoming album, Beasts Of Seasons, is worthy of your radar. It arrived early this morning and I didn’t turn out the lights till I’d played it all the way through – twice.
It’s folk music like it ought to be. Delicate, but brave. Held up by a “flickering wisp of a voice suffusing the space with a warm glow.” I’d recommend this to any folk music fan or previous subscriber to No Depression. If you’re a fan of Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, or Bright Eyes this record is for you. It’s currently available for pre-order here for less than $10. The first two hundred come signed. Grab a listen to “Spirited” from the forthcoming album below as a free and legal download.

Love her voice. It reminds me of Regina Spektor a lot.
