Rumors are circulating online and via twitter that U2 will begin their Kiss The Future tour at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday, September 12th. Full tour dates are expected on Monday, but as with many things online, they are very likely to appear in advance of that.
Billboard.com states, “The top ticket price will be slightly higher than last time and the bottom price will be lower, with the floor seats — the closest to the stage — the lowest priced. In fact, playing larger capacity venues allows for more conservative pricing overall. Field level is going to be $55, and there will be 10,000 tickets a show, every show, at $30, Fogel says. The price points are $250, $90-$95, depending on the market; $55 and $30.”
I’m probably in the minority of those that are really enjoying No Line On The Horizon. I actually just placed my order for it on vinyl. They were my first favorite band, and despite what you may feel about their recent recording output, they are a consistently great touring machine.

I love the new U2. The haters of U2 have issues, unfortunately, beyond the music I believe.

I agree that many people hate U2 because of WHO they are, not what kind of music they make. People look at Bono and his glasses and his seemingly-constant reminder of their humanitarian work and think “douche.” But like him or not, he fronts one of history’s most powerful bands. That alone makes them still absolutely relevant, regardless of how good or bad their new album is.
Personally, I feel like U2 have made almost the same album three straight times now; I suspect they are less likely to take huge risks like they’ve done several times before in changing their so sound. And why should they? They’ve found something that clearly works. I’m certainly not going to hate on songs like “Beautiful Day” and “City of Blinding Lights,” as they are great songs.

I also am enjoying the new record quite a bit. First three songs especially are a fantastic, but I wish it didn’t drag so much in the middle. It sounds great on vinyl.

Ryan,
Any word on a Camp Randall date on the tour? Seems like Soldier Field is the closest they are getting to Wisconsin so far.

Scott – As much as that would be amazing, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
