Jason Lytle was all over SXSW last week. I was really hoping to catch his set at the same church I caught Grizzly Bear, but settled for his 35 minute offering at Mess With Texas at Waterloo Park. While Lytle was admittedly a little “in the bag,” that didn’t stop him from delivering a great set of new tunes and a Grandaddy set closer. It cemented my excitement for his upcoming Anit- offering, Yours Truly, the Commuter (May 19th).
You can download “Brand New Sun” off of his upcoming album below and then head over to NPR for a stream of “Birds Encouraged Him.”

Saw them in Milwaukee several years ago and remember hearing an unfamiliar song in front of a video showing a relationship in reverse. End came at the beginning of the video with girl &guy leaving each other at a subway stop. Can anyone identify the song? Even better: the video? I have been curious about this since leaving the show.

Sophtware Slump gets my vote too. This was the soundtrack the Internet Bust of 2000/01. Sumday was a great follow-up.
