Seasick Steve :: Walkin’ Man

“Hobos are people who move around looking for work, tramps are people who move around but don’t look for work, and bums are people who don’t move and don’t work. I’ve been all three.” – Seasick Steve

Perhaps you’ve already been introduced to Seasick Steve, but my introduction came over the weekend. I was mining the video archives at La Blogotheque, and found my way to Seasick Steve based only on the thumbnail image and little curiosity. The above video for “Walkin’ Man” is just about one of the most beautiful/moving tunes I’ve heard in some time. I’m captured with the lyrics, “If you want me to stay, I’ll stash my sleeping roll under your bed. That says more than anything in my life I’ve ever said.”

I just laid my cash down on a copy of I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most of It Left and have a pretty good feeling you’ll be seeing more about Steve on these pages going forward. Until then, browse wikipedia and learn about his friendships with Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Kurt Cobain and his production work with Modest Mouse.
