This is sad to watch and type out. Jay wrote and produced some of my absolute favorite songs on some of my favorite
albums
from one of my favorite bands. We’ll keep him in our hearts.

Thank you for the music, Jay Bennett.
Go back to sleep now
My darlin
And I’ll keep all the bad dreams away
Breathe now, think sweet things
And I’ll think of all the right words to say

With all of the changes that have gone on with Wilco it is easy to forget his importance to the band. Having seen them live 8-10 times with Jay his stage presence was right up there with Jeff. His switching of instruments and his skill at playing all of them truly heightened the shows.
While all wilco records are great in my opinion, seeing the leaps made from AM to Beingthere to Summerteeth is amazing. So, all I can say is that Jay without a doubt was highly responsible for my favorite music, RIP.

Truly a great loss to the music world. Bennet’s latest release continued to show his musical genuis and he will be missed. Regardless of how he and Jeff Tweedy didn’t get along, Bennet made Wilco a much better band.
RIP Jay.
