Photos: Throw Me the Statue/The Brunettes/Nurses

A great triple bill invaded The Annex in Madison last night. We’ve long been fans of Throw Me The Statue and though I’ve yet to hear their new album Creaturesque, it’s on my list to pick up.

It’s been awhile since we checked in on The Brunettes. The last time we crossed paths was two years ago when they opened for Ferraby Lionheart at the High Noon Saloon.

Enjoy the photos here from Ed Oliver and drop a comment with your review of the show.

great sets from all 3 bands last night. really really impressed by Nurses, Brunettes was a pleasant surprise, and TMTS sounded incredibly full. a solid night of music for only $8. wish more than 30 people showed up on a Friday night…..after the PYG show at the Union was cancelled no less. made me a little embarrassed for Madison and you could tell the artists were puzzled too.

I totally agree with you Trubes. When I showed up at the tail end of Nurses set, I was surprised at how little people were there. And it was a really good bill for $8! I’ve never listened to Nurses, but I was impressed from what I heard. I was really excited to see The Brunettes. I wish I could have seen Throw Me The Statue- but I had to cut out early.

I really wasn’t all that impressed with TMTS’s show. Other than Ancestors and a couple other songs they played, I thought their performance was lacking. Most of their songs sound much better on the albums than they do live and some of them just sounded like noise at points.

The Brunettes were quite entertaining. I was impressed with their use of multiple instruments and their clapping skills.
