I know we already had a conversation about everyone’s favorite Yo La Tengo album(s), but, outside of our podcast, I haven’t really expressed how much I love their new album, Popular Songs. It’s too early to start calling it their best work to date. It may or may not be, but it’s definitely one of my favorite albums of the year.
Yo La Tengo plays the Vic Theatre in Chicago on Tuesday, October 6th. Tickets are still available. I will be there.

The new album is great. They seem to have reinvented their sound a bit on this one. I think their Condo Fucks outlet has made this release stronger and more cohesive.

No grammar corrections from me. I just agree that this is a fine album and right in the mix for one of the best of the year.

My favorite continues to be the (somewhat insane) sprawling, varied, masterpiece – I AM NOT AFRAID OF YOU AND I WILL BEAT YOUR ASS (!!!!!!)
Incidentally, my favorite album title of the decade.

I have never been a big fan of Yo La but I have heard a couple of songs on XRT that I have really enjoyed.
