AIDS Walk Wisconsin :: Muzzle of Bees Hiatus

Posted on Friday 2 October 2009

boniver

Update: I would like to thank everyone who came through with a pledge/donation allowing us to reach our fund-raising goal of $1000 benefiting Aids Walk Wisconsin. If you’re in Milwaukee don’t miss the free Bon Iver performance at Summerfest grounds Sunday at noon. Thanks again to everyone – I’m smiling ear to ear right now. -Ryan

Dear Muzzle of Bees readers,

In hopes of providing something to others, I’ve decided to enact a short fundraising project through Muzzle of Bees. I will suspend posting from now until Monday, October 12th, but you, the Muzzle of Bees faithful, have the chance to bring us back online sooner by supporting AIDS WALK Wisconsin. I will resume posting as usual once we meet our remaining goal of $735 $0, or on the 12th, whichever comes first.

I have never asked for any monetary support from readers over five years of sharing my favorite music. However, if you have used and enjoyed the site regularly over these years, I would like to ask you now for just a small contribution — not to me, but to this good cause.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve raised $265 via Twitter by simply asking for donations between $1-$5, and hope to continue that success here. I understand that money is hard to come by and even harder to part with, but I also know that many of you use this site on a regular basis. I hope that asking for this support is not too much.

I would like to applaud AIDS Walk Wisconsin for choosing Justin Vernon of Bon Iver as the honorary chair of this year’s event. Please show your support today by pledging or donating to team Muzzle of Bees.

Half of it’s you, half is me. Thank you for your help.

Help: Donate / Pledge

Sincerely,
Ryan Matteson

Yo La Tengo :: Popular Songs

Posted on Thursday 1 October 2009

popular-songs

I know we already had a conversation about everyone’s favorite Yo La Tengo album(s), but, outside of our podcast, I haven’t really expressed how much I love their new album, Popular Songs. It’s too early to start calling it their best work to date. It may or may not be, but it’s definitely one of my favorite albums of the year.

Yo La Tengo plays the Vic Theatre in Chicago on Tuesday, October 6th. Tickets are still available. I will be there.

MP3: Yo La Tengo – “Periodically Double Or Triple”
MP3: Yo La Tengo – “Here To Fall”
