We’re pretty excited for Gayngs to hit the streets. Their debut Jagjaguwar release, Relayted arrives on May 11th. The star-studded collaboration of Ivan Howard (The Rosebuds), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Megafaun, Solid Gold, P.O.S., and more promises to be one of the most exciting listens of the year. This song is kind of brilliant. One of the things I respect most about Justin Vernon is how deftly he’s avoided being pigeonholed as “that folk guy,” and how open he is to all sorts of recording fidelities, aesthetics and techniques, even divisive ones like Auto-Tune and digital manipulation. He’s a more open-minded musician than I think anybody could have predicted, and his voice sounds absolutely beautiful here. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.
