Austin

I wanted to take a brief moment to let you know that I’ve moved to Austin, TX. It wasn’t an easy decision, but the chance to try something new in a city I’ve always wanted to call home was too big of an opportunity for my wife and I not to pursue. Fear not, we’ll continue to do a good job of bringing you coverage of the Madison and Milwaukee music scenes. That being said, you can also expect me to be covering shows in Austin too. In fact, I’m very excited about seeing The Books at Central Presbyterian Church this Friday night. I suppose this is as good a time as any to say we’re looking for people to help us review concerts and albums. If you’re able and willing, please get in touch.

Yesterday was my first day as an Austin resident. I sold my car on Monday, made the 8th inning on of the Brewers opening day before flying here and settling into my apartment that I had the chance to get to know briefly during SXSW. I hit up Thundercloud Subs and Star Bar, purchased Infinite Jest at Book People, and spent a good hour perusing the vinyl selection at Waterloo Records. I finally purchased Deerhunter’s Microcastle on vinyl – and then promptly left it on the city bus upon arriving at my final stop. I was pretty bummed out and then I saw this and went to bed with a smile on my face.

I look forward to eating great bbq.
