We’re excited to be bringing Nathaniel Rateliff back to Milwaukee tonight at Club Garibaldi. Advance tickets are available here. Many missed to see Nathaniel’s last time through town due to the severe flooding all over the city.

Arrive early for opening sets from one of Milwaukee’s newest bands, Hello Death as well as a long-time favorite, Chris DeMay. Doors and music at 8PM, $10 to get in.

Tonight: The Black Swans + Chris DeMay @ Linneman’s

Posted on Friday 5 November 2010

We’re pleased to be presenting the Black Swans tonight at Linneman’s in Milwaukee. You may recall the glowing recommendation from Strand of Oaks of the Black Swans latest release, Words Are Stupid (Pitchfork calls it “haunted”). Recently, Drag City released a split 7″ vinyl of The Black Swans and Bonnie “Prince” Billy covering Larry Jon Wilson. We’re hoping they’ll be available at tonight’s show.

Milwaukee’s own Chris DeMay kicks the night off at 9:30 with help from Lisa Ridgely and Allen Cote. $8 gets you in the door. Too good to pass up and you’ll thank us on the way home. See you soon.

Wisco: A Tribute To Wilco’s Summerteeth

Posted on Friday 3 September 2010

Wisco: A Tribute To Wilco’s Summerteetha music compilation featuring our favorite Wisconsin artists each covering a track off of Wilco’s 1999 LP, Summerteeth.

I am honored to provide you with our labor of love. The state of Wisconsin is overflowing with musical talent. So much more than could ever be captured in just one compilation like this. That being said, I thought about the records that meant the most to me. Ones that I absolutely could not live without. That record, for me, without a doubt is Summerteeth. But this creation is more about the musical talent within our state lines fleshing out these songs and making them their own. This compilation shines a bright light on Wisconsin’s finest by way of one of my favorite records.

The tracks are available for free as a high-quality digital (320kbs MP3) download/stream below, or grab the whole thing as one zip file. This project would absolutely not have been possible without the amazing help of every one of the musicians showcased here. Big thanks also go out to Dan Brielmaier for creating the artwork and Justin Perkins for mastering the project.

This is our gift to you, please enjoy it and share it with your friends. We would love for you to show your support of this project with a donation in any amount to the Wisconsin Humane Society. There’s tons of animals that could use our help. Thanks and enjoy the music.

Chris DeMay :: Drag

Posted on Friday 11 December 2009

DeMay

Chris DeMay is probably not a stranger to the Milwaukee music scene faithful. If you caught his set opening for Roadside Graves back in August you will definitely understand what a treasure his music is. Chances are you’ve also seen him holding down guitar duties with local favorites Juniper Tar.

Coming next year, Chris DeMay will release Bigger Than Small (January 26th) on local imprint Bear Rifle Records. Mark your calendars. I’ve been enamored with the promotional copy slid into my hand a month back. The six song collection not only shines a light on his own material, but does diligence to Bob Dylan’s “The Man In Me.” The thing I love about Chris DeMay’s sound is its loyalty to folk, rock, and alt-country – all sounds you know we love around here and seems fleeting in the day of computer generated blips and beeps.

We’re thrilled to offer you a first listen to our favorite song (“Drag”) off the forthcoming Bigger Than Small. Check it out below.

Join us Friday, January 29th at Linneman’s in Milwaukee for the CD release party of Bigger Than Small with Chris DeMay and Juniper Tar.
