Video: Nathaniel Rateliff – “Breakman”

Posted on Tuesday 13 July 2010

We’re very excited about next week’s double bill of Nathaniel Rateliff + JBM at Club Garibaldi in Milwaukee. Tickets are on sale now ($10), don’t sleep on getting yours. We fell in love with Rateliff’s sound when we first caught him opening for Mason Jennings last year. Since then, we’ve become even more enamored after his performance on the Daytrotter barnstorming tour stop through town and most recently opening for the Tallest Man on Earth at the Pabst.

Giveaway: We’ve got five (5) copies of Nathaniel Rateliff’s gorgeous album, In Memory of Loss to give away. Drop a comment confirming your attendance at next week’s show and we’ll select five winners at random and hand them the album at the door.

Thanks to everyone that made it out to Club Garibaldi on Thursday night for Crooked Fingers. I hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did. Do take the time to check out Liz Durrett’s solo work (she was holding down drum duties in the band). Dan returned from the show with a slew of videos from the show, including a Moby Grape cover, “Crowned In Chrome,” and a blistering verson of “Revenge.” Check them all out here.

Sleep All Summer

Posted on Tuesday 22 June 2010

Welcome to summer. There’s tons of albums that I turn to on a seasonal basis once the weather takes a turn in the sunny direction. One of those is Crooked Fingers Dignity & Shame, which pretty much blew my mind when it was released in 2005. Though I’m sure there are dissenters, front-to-back, Dignity & Shame sits atop the band’s recorded output to date as far as my ears are concerned.

I feel extremely fortunate to be bringing Crooked Fingers to Club Garibaldi in Milwaukee on Thursday night. If you’ve never seen the band live I can assure you an amazing night is in store. Until then, take a listen to one of my favorite tracks from Dignity and Shame appropriately titled “Sleep All Summer.” Also worth taking a spin through is the gorgeous collaboration of The National + St. Vincent on the same song from the Score! 20 Years of Merge Records.

Milwaukee Concert Announcement: Crooked Fingers

Posted on Monday 10 May 2010

I’m excited just typing this post. Muzzle of Bees and 91.7 WMSE have teamed up to bring Crooked Fingers to Club Garibaldi in Milwaukee on Thursday, June 24th. Crooked Fingers released one of my all-time favorite albums in 2005′s Dignity and Shame, and their supporting show at the High Noon Saloon years ago was an unforgettable one. Tickets for the upcoming Milwaukee show are $10. More details coming soon.

Crooked Fingers are hard at work on new material. The band recently took took up with Kickstarter to help finance “Reservoir Songs Volume II, which will include his versions of great songs by The Kinks, Moby Grape, Merle Haggard, and others.” Make your contribution here.
