If I was to present a list of my top 5 albums of the year so far, Elvis Perkins in Dearland would be in that company. The song “Doomsday” came into heavy rotation as a result of this amazing live video and has become one of my favorite songs of the year. Basically, Elvis Perkins is hitting me hard in 2009.
I was thrilled to hear about the October 20th XL Recordings release of The Doomsday EP “which features the album version of the track, a newly recorded slower version of the song and 4 additional track.” We’ve got a download of that slower version for you right here:

In other news, Elvis Perkins is slotted for an appearance at Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble on Halloween of this year. Chicago fans can check him out at a TBD venue along with MoB favorite A.A. Bondy on Saturday, November 21st. Love the guy’s music, but he avoids Milwaukee like the plague!
