In September Langhorne Slim was in town staying with drummer Malachi DeLorenzo for a few days before heading out on tour supporting their fantastic new album, Be Set Free. We previously shared “Land of Dreams,” the first installment of our multiple part video series that we were fortunate to capture in between radio appearances and a performance at the Exclusive Co. In September Langhorne Slim was in town staying with drummer Malachi DeLorenzo for a few days before heading out on tour supporting their fantastic new album, Be Set Free. In between radio appearances and a performance at the Exclusive Co, we hooked up to record a handful of songs in video form.

The first installment is “Land of Dreams,” a delicate love song anchored by Jeff Ratner’s upright bass and steady brush beat of Malachi DeLorenzo. When Langhorne’s voice comes in it is just about perfect.

We’ve already shared the good news that Langhorne Slim is returning to Madison in support of his upcoming album, Be Set Free (Kemado Records, Sept 29th). The album collects the “hold your heart” moments and “raise a drink” dance vibes” that have made Langhorne Slim our favorite for years. An added (and very awesome) bonus is that the album features the drumming of Milwaukee native Malachi DeLorenzo.

Below you’ll find a download of “I Love You, But Goodbye,” a long-time Langhorne live staple finally getting some love on record. After a couple listens its got me making comparisons to Cat Stevens. For that we couldn’t be happier. Enjoy.
