Photos: Wilco + Nick Lowe – Overture Hall, Madison

Posted on Thursday 6 October 2011

Only a few seconds into “Art of “Almost” from Wilco’s new album, The Whole Love, you know that you’re in for an exciting listen. It’s my favorite album the band’s done in years and couldn’t be more excited about their current tour, which includes Nick Lowe opening things up each night. It doesn’t get much better than that.

While I wait for the band to swing through Austin in December, Ed Oliver took in last night’s show at Overture Hall in Madison and brought back the beautiful photos you see.

Discuss: Did you make the show? Leave a comment with your thoughts/reviews of last night’s concert.

Video: Elvis Costello and friends – “The Weight”

Posted on Monday 4 January 2010

“The Weight” is one of the best penned songs as far as I’m concerned. I actually got to hear Levon play it in person last year in Chicago. It’s been some time since we shared a cover of the song, but this one is far too special to let pass without a mention. Elvis Costello’s Spectacle has become essential viewing at my house. Most recently, Costello closed out his show with one of the greatest collective talents on one stage for a rousing cover of The Band’s “The Weight.”

Watch as Ray LaMontagne, Levon Helm, Nick Lowe, Richard Thompson, Larry Campbell and Allen Toussaint join Elvis Costello & the Imposters on “The Weight.”
