Phish – In The Aeroplane Over The Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel)

Posted on Monday 28 June 2010

There’s a lot of money I’d like to have back that I spent seeing Phish during the 90′s. Though I haven’t been a fan of the group or seen them live since the early 2000′s, seeing their cover of Neutral Milk Hotel’sIn The Aeroplane Over The Sea” come across my twitter feed over the weekend seemed appropriate enough to share here.

Are you down in Tennessee battling the rain or are you glued to your twitter watching the fun go by? Regardless of where you’re at, Bonnaroo is off to a fun/wet beginning. I made the inaugural festival and returned a couple years back. This year, I just couldn’t swing it, but that doesn’t mean we can’t offer you an inside look into all the action. Drop us a comment if you’re at the festival, if you’ve been in the past, or who has the best coverage of the festival that we can rely on for speedy updates.

Madison Concert Announcement: Mike Gordon

Posted on Thursday 5 June 2008

I’ve spoken very little of my college days following Phish from city to city for weeks at a time during my summer sabbatical. While I was very much the opposite of what many would consider the typical Phish fan, I definitely enjoyed the music before inevitably burning out on the group because I listened to nothing but them for about two solid years.

That being said, I think the demise of Phish actually opened up the gateway for a large number of people who, with no single band to hold the torch and keep their attention, were forced to branch out into all sorts of genres, thus making for a better overall live music scene.

Former Phish bassist Mike Gordon is embarking on a solo tour including a stop at the Majestic Theatre in Madison on Wednesday, September 3rd. Though he’s most famous for his contributions to the aforementioned jam band kingpins, I have to say I’ve found some of his finest work in the collaborations with guitarist Leo Kottke. Perhaps you’ve heard and enjoyed Clone and Sixty Six Steps as well. Thoughts?

Tickets: $20 Advance / $25 Day of Show
