Video: Portugal. The Man – “Work All Day” (Acoustic)

Posted on Wednesday 19 August 2009

If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen yesterday’s proclamation that “The first two tracks on the new @portugaltheman album might also be two of the best songs of the year!” The second song on the album, “Work All Day” is captured in the simple/beautiful acoustic fashion via the video above.

I saw this band at Lollapalooza a few weeks ago and they were one of the best bands I saw on Sunday. Got me really excited for their Madison and Milwaukee shows in October. I’m telling you right now, don’t miss these guys live.

I’ll leave you with the sister video of “People Stay,” also acoustic, and the first track lauded above. Great stuff.

Muzzle of Bees is proud to present the fantastic triple bill of Portugal. The Man, Hockey, & Drug Rug at the Majestic Theatre in Madison. Earlier this week I waxed on my recent admiration of The Satanic Satanist.

In order to get the event off the ground we’re giving away two (2) pairs of tickets to the Muzzle of Bees faithful. To enter, drop a comment with your favorite lead singer/vocalist. We’ll select our winners at random and notify them by e-mail.

MP3: Portugal. The Man – “People Say”

Long drives through the state of Montana have afforded me the chance to catch up on a long list of new releases. During the four hours from Missoula to Yellowstone National Park I spun through the new one from Portugal. The Man, The Satanic Satanist. The band recently sold out its performance at the now defunct Cafe Montmartre in Madison a few months back.

There’s a lot to love within “the multi-layered textures influenced by the sounds of Motown, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, prog-rock and psychedelia” and they’re one of the bands on the top of my list to check out at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival next month.
