Wisco: A Tribute To Wilco’s Summerteeth

Posted on Friday 3 September 2010

Wisco: A Tribute To Wilco’s Summerteetha music compilation featuring our favorite Wisconsin artists each covering a track off of Wilco’s 1999 LP, Summerteeth.

I am honored to provide you with our labor of love. The state of Wisconsin is overflowing with musical talent. So much more than could ever be captured in just one compilation like this. That being said, I thought about the records that meant the most to me. Ones that I absolutely could not live without. That record, for me, without a doubt is Summerteeth. But this creation is more about the musical talent within our state lines fleshing out these songs and making them their own. This compilation shines a bright light on Wisconsin’s finest by way of one of my favorite records.

The tracks are available for free as a high-quality digital (320kbs MP3) download/stream below, or grab the whole thing as one zip file. This project would absolutely not have been possible without the amazing help of every one of the musicians showcased here. Big thanks also go out to Dan Brielmaier for creating the artwork and Justin Perkins for mastering the project.

This is our gift to you, please enjoy it and share it with your friends. We would love for you to show your support of this project with a donation in any amount to the Wisconsin Humane Society. There’s tons of animals that could use our help. Thanks and enjoy the music.

Tonight: The Championship @ The Domes

Posted on Thursday 5 February 2009

Tonight you should join me in heading to Milwaukee’s Mitchell Park Conservatory aka The Domes for The Championship’s “Music Under Glass” show. What a great place to see a show. Those things look like spaceships when they’re all lit up. Looking forward to it.

If you’re not familiar with The Championship, I urge you to give them a listen. They are a little bit of Springsteen, Johnny Cash, and Romantica. They’re a band with a country influence/sound that would be a welcome listen to anyone who likes Lucero or late greats like Mere Haggard and Willie Nelson. One of my favorite groups kicking up dust in Milwaukee these days. Take a listen to “Midnight Gold” below.

Homegrown :: The Celebrated Workingman

Posted on Friday 11 July 2008

A couple nights ago I got turned onto The Celebrated Workingman, a Milwaukee brewed outfit fronted by Mark Waldoch and comprising members of MoB favorites Freshwater Collins. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable admitting how many times I played “We’re Numb” on their myspace page yesterday, seriously one of my favorite tunes right now, so go take a listen.

The Celebrated Workingman will release their debut album Herald The Dickens on Tuesday, August 19th, followed by a very special CD release party at Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee with Decibully + The Championship on Friday, August 22nd. Be there.
