Madison’s second go around with the SoCo Music Experience went down last night at Willow Island. I thought the sound was great, GZA’s Pro Tools material made a debut in front loyal Madison Wu-Tangers. The highlight for me was seeing the Black Keys once again, who continue to prove themselves as one of my favorite live bands. The Roots closed things out in huge fashion, teasing Led Zeppelin and trotting out the enigmatic Cody ChestnuTT for “The Seed”

Tomorrow is the free SoCo Music Festival in Madison. Get your college football on, then head over to Willow Island for quality live music. No donning a santa costume and launching confetti for me this year. Instead I’m gonna kick it with The Roots, The Black Keys, GZA, The Selfish Gene, and many more.

Things got a lot more interesting in since posting some of the new additions to this year’s SoCo Music Experience going down again at Willow Island on Saturday, September 6th. Oh, by the way this is a free festival!

MoB has just learned that The Roots will be headlining the SoCo Music Experience stop in Madison, rounding out an already impressive line-up including The Black Keys, GZA, Benevento Russo Duo, and Ha Ha Tonka. More announcements/updates as they arrive.

With that announcement, I’ll ask again. Does this line up do more or less for you than last year? Now would also be a good time for everyone to educate me on their favorite record by The Roots. Discuss.
