You may have seen some Tortoise summer tour dates floating around out there, we’re definitely making plans to catch their set at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago on Friday, July 17th. Tonight brought good news that Tortoise have a new album called Beacons of Ancestorship dropping June 23rd via Thrill Jockey Records.

Our friends at WSUM have put together a great day of music under the guise of the Snake On The Lake festival, taking place in Madison on Saturday, September 27th. Having already announced Damien Jurado, it’s with great enthusiasm that news of Chicago’s very own Tortoise will hold down headlining duties. Other confirmed artists are Awesome Color, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, El Valiente, The Pistols At Dawn.

The event will once again be held on the University of Wisconsin’s Memorial Terrace and will be free.
